Key Responsibilities of an Assessor

• Property Valuation: Estimates the market value of residential, commercial, and industrial properties, often using mass appraisal techniques.
• Data Maintenance: Maintains records of property ownership, physical characteristics, and sales data.
• Tax Roll Preparation: Lists all property values on an assessment roll.
• Exemption Management: Reviews and processes property tax exemptions, such as those for veterans, seniors, or agricultural properties.
• Reassessments: Conducts periodic re-inspections and re-appraisals to ensure assessments remain accurate.
