ESSEX COUNTY PUBLIC NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that the Assessors of the Town of Schroon, County of Essex, have completed the Tentative Assessment Roll for the current year and that a copy has been left with the Town Clerk at the Town of Schroon Town Hall, where it may be seen and examined by any interested person until the fourth Tuesday in May (or other applicable date). The Assessors will be in attendance with the Tentative Assessment Roll as follows:
1st Day – May 4th, 9AM- 2PM
2nd Day- May 12th,4PM- 8PM
3rd Day- May 16th, 9AM- 1PM
4th Day- May 19th, 9AM -1PM
The Board of Assessment Review will meet on May 26th between the hours of 3PM and 5PM, and 6PM and 8PM at the Town Hall Meeting Room in said town, to hear and examine all complaints in relation to assessments, in the written application of any person believing him/herself to be aggrieved. A publication on contesting your assessment in New York State is available at www.tax.ny.gov.

NOTICE OF RECEIPT OF TAX ROLL AND WARRANT
TOWN OF SCHROON
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that I, Erica D. Hedden, The Undersigned Collector of Taxes of the Town of Schroon, County of Essex, and State of New York, have duly received the tax roll and warrant for the collection of taxes within the Town of Schroon for the year 2026, and that I will attend at the Schroon Town Hall, 15 Leland Ave, Schroon Lake, NY 12870 from January 2, 2026 to April 30, 2026, for receiving the taxes listed on the said roll. In-person payment hourswill be Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM except holidays. Online, in Person and Mail in payments are accepted.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that interest rates to be applied to unpaid taxes for 2026 are: taxes paid in January 0%; taxes paid in February 1%; taxes paid in March 2%; and taxes paid in April 3%; and
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that New York State Real Property Tax Law now requires a second/delinquent tax notice is sent to property owners who have not paid taxes, thirty (30) days, prior to the taxes being turned back to the Essex County Treasurer. An additional $2.00 is then charged on each parcel, for each notice sent.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE The failure of the property owner to receive a tax bill shall not in any way affect the validity of the taxes or penalties pursuant to the law.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE a four payment installment option is available for 2026, you must choose to do so by January 31st, instructions will be included with your taxes.
